Inexpensive Weekend Activities Before It Gets Too Cold

School has started back and while the kids are getting into the routine of getting up early and going to bed earlier, I thought I'd try to make the weekends more fun with my list of inexpensive weekend activities.  Please feel free to comment and give some of your ideas for weekend activities.

        1. Turn on the sprinkler for the kids to play in.  I                    remember doing this is a child.  Putting the bathing                suits on and playing in the sprinkler.  Fun times!

Cleaning the Office

Spring cleaning and it starts in my office.  I can't believe the amount of clutter that accumulates when I think I am cleaning up behind myself.  There is a napkin on my desk from yesterday's breakfast, coffee and a muffin. On the bookcase not only are books not put back where they belong, but I have a plant that is fighting for its life as I forget to water it.  Finally after an hour of cleaning and attempting to revive the wilting plant, my office is starting to look like a viable work space again. My phone keeps ringing and interrupting my progress right as it starts to look like there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have been attempting to teach myself Photoshop.  It is really much harder than it is portrayed on YouTube.  I bought a book that teaches visually, unfortunately I am having some trouble learning it.  I never anticipated the difficulty of this program.  Lightroom  is also a great program and I would love to master the two of these photo editing software programs. I welcome any tips or tricks to these programs.
I can't wait for the new season of The Voice and also the new season of Dancing with the Stars.  It is so nice getting to see the stars of old once again.  Stars from shows like the Wonder Years and Full House last season graced the floor, learning dance routines that were challenging even for professionals.  I did not like some of the costumes on this last season such as the gold jumpsuit that Candace Cameron Bure sported during one of her dances.  In one of the past seasons, I enjoyed seeing Kirstie Alley show that 60 isn't too old to compete with her younger competitors.  All the weight she lost during that season was so amazing.  I think as an audience, we are so caught up in watching the performances that we fail to realize the amount of work that goes into learning the routine every week.
The Voice is a great platform for competitors to showcase their talent and get the exposure they need to launch their career and let's not forget the recording contracts to be earned. What do you think of our two new judges?  Blake and Adam and their shenanigans have made the show for all these seasons, but it will be interesting to see how the dynamics change with Gwen and Pharrell in the judge's chairs.  In my opinion, Sept 22, 2014 can't come soon enough.

Dreary Days!

What's up with all this rain?  Rain is supposed to make everything smell so much fresher when it stops. The problem is that it never stops.  It's been raining so long that my front yard is one big mud puddle!  With snow, you can make snowmen, but with mud the best you can hope for is mudpies!  My house house been sick for the last 4 days with this flu that is sweeping the United States.  The weather, cold one day and warm the next isn't helping keep people from getting sick and then the flu epidemic to boot.  Everybody I know is sick.

So I'm thinking of writing on some controversial subjects for hub pages.  Does any one have any suggestions?  I want to get a friendly debate going.  I've thought about discussing the whole abortion thing, but that has been hashed and rehashed so much that I feel there are better subjects that need attention paid to them.    What are your thoughts?

Welcome

Welcome to the Writing Goddess Melanie.  My name is Melanie Zetterberg and I live in Covington.  I am recently widowed with three fur children. My husband was my biggest supporter when it came to my writing.  My three miniature dachshunds are rescues.  Maggie is a red dachshund that weighs 9 lbs, Max is a black dachshund that weighs 17 lbs and Ladybug is a mix of miniature dachshund and not sure what else.  She weighs 25 lbs and we are trying to figure out how to put her on a diet and get Maggie to eat when they all eat together.  The challenges of fur motherhood, I guess.
This is my husband and me

I go to school at Metropolitan Community College.  I am a Medical Billing and Coding major that is easily distracted with a well written novel.  I love to read and have had many adventures in the pages of a good book.  Perhaps this is where my desire to lend my voice came from as I, too am an author.  My book can be found on amazon.com and I am currently working on more.  Draven's Quest For Treasure is my first novel.   I can be found on hubpages under the name melzetterberg.  If you get a chance check out some of my hubs.

I love fan mail and I will respond to comments as quickly as is possible.  I am a movie buff and can be found most days, rewriting movies in my head. I love all types of movies.  Comedies, action and everything in between on the movie front will get my attention in a flash.  Have you seen any good movies lately?  Feel free to share and perhaps I can check them out too.

Take care,
Melanie
